Does anybody have HD through either Dish Network or Directv? I've researched their packages--spent more time that it was worth. They both seem to be at a premium cost considering that few channels they show are HD. Friend told me that ESPN HD was largely hype--it was good for games but not otherwise.
On a related noted, I have a Dish 311 receiver. Some SD channels look fabulous on my HDTV while others look washed out. The best connections available are RCA connectors (not composite). It actually has a S-Video connection, but for some reason the video looks better with the RCA connectors.

I have DISH and am very satisfied with them. They have more national HD channels than DirecTV and most say the PQ on the HD channels is better on DISH. DirecTV is making a bigger effort to bring local HD channels to people but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for local HD channels to come to ther Columbus area.

I also have DISH and prefer their overall quality and channel selection. Since I have had an antenna for locals for over 2 years now, I just gave up on locals from a sat company early on. But having had both sat providers, I'd say definitely go with DISH. The 211 works to my satisfaction, although I do have issues with audio to my Sony TV via HDMI. I gave up and just use component video and analog audio to the TV, with digital audio to my surround receiver. It still looks and sounds great.
