On OTA of the local networks, is anyone able to zoom and eliminate the black letterbox bars? I cannot on my Samsung TX-S3082WH. I have my Dish Network receiver hooked up through AV and can zoom in and out there. The owners manual though says that OTA is only available in 4:3 or 16:9. Why is that?

When i used my zenith recevier i was not able to do anything to the locals with my TV's pic size. It is because they upconvert everything to 1080i widescreen. They just put pillar bars on the sides of 4:3 material. With my Dish receiver I can zoom and use all it's functions but that is because the receiver is doing it, not the TV.
Back before WXTX and WRBL went HD, you could zoom on their standard def digital broadcasts.
