Help an old dog learn new tricks...please. I have the DISH network.. have the indoor antenna plugged into the antenna slot on the DISH network box.. get good signal strength, or so I think/thought, in the 80's and 90's but still get break ups (signal lost, weak signal, yadda, yadda) .. which drive me crazy! .. Will switching to an outdoor aerial solve the problem? I live off Double Churches, so I'm not too far from the transmitters, but admittedly I'm in a 'hole', the bottom of a hill. If an outdoor antenna is the answer, any recommendations?

I had the same problems (I am with Dish too). The outside antenna will help. You might need a pole. I tried in the attic and the signal quality was weak, I mounted the antenna outside the house and the signal was better but the best signal came when I mounted the antenna on a pole. Getting a good quality antenna helps too. Don't go to Lowes and get one of those cheap ones. I got mine from www.antennasdirect.com/ but shop around the internet for a good price.

I've always been a fan of the Channel Master 4221. Roof mounted i wouldn't think you'd have any problems getting signal. It is a directional antenna so, without a rotator, it would rule out getting the digital CW and probably that PBS from AL.
Even when the stations were at low power with my 4221 mounted on the chimney I never really had issues with losing signal.

I agree that an outdoor antenna pole mounted is the way to go. The only issue is that eventually you will need both VHF and UHF for the digital signals(for WTVM), so you might as well go with something like a 3010. I have seen those work well when pole mounted. Just make sure to use good quality RG6 and a decent amp as well.

Wow thanks for the input. Guess I'll do a little more homework, buy a bunch of antenna's and see which one works best! .. Make the home look like the old Air Force signal stations on Okinawa.. kidding! Kidding aside, I really appreciate the feedback. I'm learning little by little and one day maybe I'll know something...
