Greetings ....
Either WCOV (DT-20 Fox-Montgomery,AL) has apparently completed their transition to digital, or else I am the beneficiary of good atmospherics. It is after 2:00 AM ET here in Phenix City, AL on Friday February 20th, and the station's signal is coming into my Phenix City residence.
I am receiving WCOV via a classic Radio Shack indoor UHF golden bow-tie antenna, on a Channel Master CM-7000 Converter Box, with signal strength varying wildly from 20% to 60%.
Interesting tidbit - The 20.2 (WCOV wx) sub-channel allows picture shaping, the first non x.1 channel I know of that ever did this.
UPDATE - 2/20/2009 at 12:50 PM ET Now getting WCOV at 16%-30%. 20.1 breaks up when strength dips under 15%, 20.2 (Weather) same way.

Frank Atmospherics do play tricks on reception. I have a powered outdoor antenna, it's a leftover from my Voom installation a few years ago when HD was just getting started. It's the kind you see on RV's but can also be used for home use, made by winegard. Here's a pic I found on the web, I removed the dish but left and antenna: img217.imageshack.us/img217/6915/voomant8sk.jpgOn some early mornings around 8am or so if the weather is just right, I can pick up stations in Dothan, Al, Panama City, Fl and Tallahassee, Fl. But they fade out within 30 min or so. With all this said, I still cannot pickup the local 66 station (CW network) Bill

Greetings ...
Atmospherics plays a part for sure. WCOV did complete its transition to digital, and their 1000-kw signal will come in quite well at night and early morning. If I was able to have a good outside antenna, I might pick it up even better.
That is interesting about the Florida stations - which ones were they?
One Monday Morning I got the ABC and PBS stations out of Pensacola - quite something to see.
