Does anyone know of any updates to WRBL increasing their HD signal? Originally, they had stated that they would be completed with this upgrade by July, but have since pushed the date back several times. I have called the station a few times and left the engineer voice mails, but so far I have not received a response. CBS is the only channel I an unable to pick up, and now that the new Fall shows are starting I would like to watch them in HD. Thanks.

According to information on the FCC Website WRBL asked for an additional extension till November 17, 2006 for tehir Special Temporary Authority (STA) that allowed them to operate a lower power. There was no indication on whether this extension was granted but probably will be granted. The November 17, 2006 date was the date for the full power construction facilities.

Media General, WRBL's parent, just upgraded WJBF in Augusta to full power a few months ago, so I don't know why they are dragging in Columbus.
At the same time, Media General wants to do a flash cut for WNEG, the CBS affiliate in northeast Georgia. The FCC hasn't approved their plan, but hasn't fined them either.

Thanks for the updates. Basically, I feel that WRBL has misrepresented their plans regarding the signal upgrade. When I first called in May and spoke to the engineer he stated that they would be completed with the upgrade the last weekend in June. After that did not happen I called back and was told that there was a slight delay and they would have the upgrade completed by mid-August or early September at the latest. Now it looks as though the upgrade will not take place until after November 17th. This has been extremely frustrating. Don’t they realize that more people are likely to watch their station once the upgrade is complete?

I'm getting WRBL over 90% percent today. Usually it's around 75%. Looks like they may have upgraded.

I'm getting WRBL over 90% percent today. Usually it's around 75%. Looks like they may have upgraded. They have! I'm now getting a signal on WRBL-DT around 90%, when I was not getting a signal at all! I meant to post the other day that I expected them to be up around the weekend, because I noticed that WLGA's analog signal was off for several hours earlier in the week, and since WRBL's digital transmitter was going to be on the same tower, I put two and two together... ~Alan

I hope they can fine tune their picture a bit, it's very clear, but a little dark compared to my cable signal.
From time to time in the early morning hours, I can pickup the CBS HD signal coming out of Dothan, Al. and man, it is crystal clear. The best local signal I've seen yet.
