Welcome to the boards. Hopefully this will be a good place for everyone to come to discuss DTV in the Columbus area. Feel free to give us suggestion on anything we can do to make this better. Thanks

This was a great idea. I love my HDTV and like having a place where I can get information and talk with other people who have the same interest. I posted early on in the reception report under Springvilla. I have recently moved to Salem where my reception is even better and the signal more consistent. I was not aware that WXTX had gone live with HD. I sure would have liked to watch the super bowl in HD. At least I know now and can catch the Daytona 500 this Sunday. This is great. I have heard that Fox does the 720p. Will I need anything special to receive this signal as opposed to the 1080i?

You don't need anything special to receive the 720p signals. If your HD receiver is set to 1080i it will be unconverted. ABC also uses the 720p format.

Also, they say 720P is better for things like sporting events. I believe you get less motion artifacts.

I checked out WXTX last night and American Idol appeared to be broadcast in HD. I don't think I could be mistake about it being in HD. However, I didn't change anything on my television. It must choose automatically or maybe the picture wasn't as good as it could have been. Any suggestions?

This forum is a great idea. In the past I've had to rely on Mike to reply to my email questions. Now others can chime in when I have a question. I wonder how many of us are currently enjoying HD in the Columbus/Phenix City area? I assume with Columbus' cable companies providing HD channels that number will grow quickly. I, however, live on the "West bank" and have to get my HD fix from satellite.

Skillet, Yes American Idol was HD. However it seems quite a few of the cameras they use are upconverts so in some portions of the show the picture doesn't look all that great.
