Haven't ever tried it before so I was wondering if anyone could pick up WGIQ DT 44 out of Louisville AL?

Yes, I get both 43-1 (24 hr HD) and 43-2.
I re-scanned my local channels and here are the results:
Station / Signal Strength WRBL - 95 WLTZ - 96 WGIQ - 89 WTVM - 96 WXTX - 97
I live in N. Columbus (Double Chruches Rd area) and my antenna is pointed South, Southeast.

Never tried. Until now I didn't know there was a channel down there.
I would have to point my antenna southwest and it is currently pointed southeast, maybe I'll play around one weekend and see. Looks like it's over 60 miles from me though, I don't think my antenna is powerfull enough.

What affiliation is WGIQ? I can't get it with current aiming, but I may try to experiment in the coming week.

I am interested in installing an outside antenna to receive WGIQ, ch. 43 (Alabama Public TV station located in Louisville, AL). If anyone here has successfully done that, I would appreciate knowing the details of your installation---the antenna model number, antenna height, length of coax feed, whether or not an antenna pre-amp and/or rotor are used. I am located in Phenix City, near the old downtown area.

what kind of antenna are you currently using? You probably could get it with a channel master 4221 or 4228 (both relatively inexpensive). I have the 4221 although i've never tried to turn it to get the stations coming from alabama.

I agree that the 4228 is probably the way to go, but I have other installation issues here. I have a cluttered view (trees and houses) to the southwest which might require an impractically high antenna mast, a long coax feed, and possibly a mast-mounted pre-amp. The extreme directivity of the 4228 might also require a rotor to pick up the other local stations. I wanted to canvas other users before taking the plunge. My current receiver is a MyHD PCI card installed in a Pentium 4 computer. The monitor is a 23" HP 1920 x 1200 LCD doing double duty as a computer monitor and HDTV. I receive all local digital stations using a Silver Sensor antenna sitting on top of the computer. In this area channel 43 is the only OTA source for HDTV PBS programs. I thank all of you for your comments.
