I was changing channels this morning on Mediacom cable, and saw channel 66 was being received with a stronger, but heavily ghosted picture. Obviously WLGA is now broadcasting from Cusseta, and Mediacom needs to re-aim their receiving antenna from the west to south.
I pulled out a UHF antenna and connected it to the back of my TV, and sure enough, channel 66 was clear!
The picture quality is a lot better, but sadly the audio broadcast is mono.

Yeah they had planned to start their analog broadcast from the new tower sometime in the last week of Oct. They were supposed to be on air from the new tower by Nov 5th but wanted to get it up a little early.
It also looks pretty terrible on Knology now too.

My analog picture for channel 66 still looks like junk.
Now, I don't know exactly where the new tower is located, but I am assuming it is in line with the other towers for me. I live in Phenix City and I point my antenna East and slightly South and all of the other towers line up for me.
So one of 3 thing has happened. 1) when I checked tonight, around 9PM, they were no longer broadcasting from the new tower 2) the new tower is nowhere near the other Columbus TV towers 3) they are broadcasting a very weak signal that Phenix City folks can't receive well
any thoughts??

I couldn't get ANYTHING at all down here in Terrell County, and according to the FCC maps, I'm supposed to receive a signal from them, but nothing so far... ~Alan

The new tower is a couple 100 yards from the WRBL and WTVM towers.

The new tower is a couple 100 yards from the WRBL and WTVM towers. That's what I thought, just wasn't sure. So I guess WLGA66 is broadcasting an extremely weak signal from the new tower. Because, my analog WTVM and WRBL are both crystal clear. My digital WTVM is crystal clear as is WRBL most of the time. I understood WLGA was broadcasting a pretty weak signal from their old tower, but what is their excuse for broadcasting weak on the new tower?

DJ, are you still picking up the WLGA signal? I did an analog scan on my tv and got nothing for WLGA. Also the bad quality on cable has gone away. Maybe they turned on the signal to test it the other day and it's back off now.

Yep, they're back on the Opelika tower. They're snowy again on my set-top UHF antenna, and Mediacom's reception has gone back to what it's always been.
I noticed this a fews days ago. They used the new Cusseta tower for only a day or two.
