Greetings .... Phenix City Cable - aka Cable TV of East Alabama - needs to adjust or upgrade its digital OTA-TV and satellite receiving equipment - and most urgently at that! They carry the Atlanta Braves Peachtree TV signal on channel-7, but lately there's been trouble. When the signal quality drops to zero, you see a black screen and the words "Poor Signal". This could last for a short while or for the course of the whole game. Never used to be like that. TCM (Turner Classic Movies) on channel-22 also has intermittant satellite reception issues. You either see jumpy screens or the "Poor Signal" screen. Also there are occasions when Alabama Public TV's digital signal on cable-9 is not picked up well enough to be viewed. Hours could go by before the channel returns to normal. If these issues are not addressed, and if similar problems should arise on other channels, Phenix Cable could possibly start losing a lot of subscribers to satellite, or to OTA and rentals. Additional -- Seems as if other folks in the vicinity are unhappy as well. Thanx-A-Lot, Franko-Video-09

Unfortunately i'm using them for my hd now too. It is very rare that i don't have breakup on the hd channels. It has been bad enough in the past where it drops completely out.
As for their internet, I had to get rid of that and switch to dsl. It got to where it was slower than dial up. When I talked to their tech support, which is done by another company, i was told they just didn't have enough bandwidth to serve the customers they had.

Greetings
If we still have Phenix Cable subscribers around - specificly any one like me who receives only the analog channels on a non-digital basis - I wonder if you have noticed the recent poor picture quality on several channels.
I've about decided that it's no longer in my best interest to record programs off-air from the analog cable. There's really nothing worth recording on any channel, save for TCM (Turner Classic Movies). But Phenix Cable's current analog transmission of TCM really sucks now.
Upgrading to digital and possibly adding a DVR is an option, but that is curretnly just out of my budget range.
Among the options I'm considering for the near future - ditching cable, going to DSL and subscribing to a movie rental service like Netflix.
Opinions and suggestions are most welcome.
Thanx-A-Lot

I know it has been said time and time again but leave East Alabama Cable. You will be better off. I left them for Dish Network a long time ago and I have never regretted it.
