I just noticed that the PBS stations are broadcasting in Dobly Digital 5.1 surround sound. They may have been doing this for a while, but I just noticed. I checked and WLTZ is still not broadcasting in 5.1 while 3.1, 9.1 and 54.1 are. Does anyone have an idea if/when WLTZ will start broadcasting in 5.1 surround? They are the only ones that are not up to speed.

I'll check with them and see if they have any plans for it. I know last time i check they said it was low on the priority list. That was a while ago though. However, at least they have the capability to show pre-recorded HD and HD onscreen graphics. I'd rather have that over DD 5.1 any day. Having to lose HD on all the other stations every time it rains or the wind picks up is ridiculous.

Yeah, I can't stand when it switches from HD due to a storm report, but I would be interested in WLTZ's response regarding DD 5.1. Thanks.

Got a response from WLTZ and they said they had planned to have 5.1 in late January but the current economy has prevented it. They say it is a priority but are not sure when it will happen.
