does anyone know if columbus, ga channel 28 PBS is available? they advertised that they were up and running in digital, but my box/rabbit ears can't pick it up doing a scan, and when i enter the channel manually, says it's not a valid station.
help!! i've got 2 young girls, they need/want their children's programming!!
any help? am i SOL? thanks!

Yes, it is available. I can receive 28.1, 28.2 and 28.3 in digital. 28.1 chops a little bit on me every 5 seconds or so. I don't know if that is their transmission or my location. I was able to pick up 25.1, 25.2 and 25.3 much better. That station is out of the Dawson vicinity while 28 is out of Warm Springs, which is another reason that 25 is a better choice for me. I have a directional antenna and live north of Columbus in the Ellerslie area. I can aim my antenna south towards Columbus allowing me to pick up the main channels including the Dawson channel. Try pointing the UHF portion of your antenna towards the Warm Springs area and do a scan. You might pick it up, but unfortunately you then might lose the main Columbus digital channels 3.1, 9.1, 38.1 and 54.1

thanks rick.. we don't have an external (or even an internal attic) antenna.
do you have a swivel (?) antenna outside? i've read reviews here of various antennae that are suggested.. not very interested, but also don't want to have to get a dish and have to survive the cruddy reception and cost.
so, you think an external antenna vs the rabbit ears is the ticket? thanks!! jude

Outdoor antenna is definitely the way to go if you want to get really good signal. I've never been lucky enough where i've lived to get even just the big 4 with an indoor.
Ideally you'd want to have a rotator if you have a directional antenna so you can aim it at different transmitters. I had my antenna pointed at the main columbus stations and was able to pick up WJSP pretty good. Had some breakups. But that's coming in from the side from where I was at.
There is also a PBS station out of Louisville AL that some can pick up. WGIQ
