I came across a pretty nice VHF antenna the other day and was wanting to add it below my current UHF antenna (CM4228). I've seen this done on many rooftops around the area but was wondering if there were any specifics to doing this... Both antennas have twin lead outputs and my preamp has twin lead inputs. Can I just combine the twin leads from both antennas at my preamp (Winegard 8283)? Should I cut both twin leads the same length and give it a try? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Dusty

I suggest using a VHF-UHF combiner. ( A U-V splitter connected in reverse) Unfortunately most of these have 75 OHM outputs. Also, you need to check and make sure your preamp is VHF-UHF capable. If you have to purchase a new preamp, I would suggest using a 300-75 OHM balun on both antenna outputs, then use a 75 OHM combiner with both 75 OHM inputs and output. This would cut down on any ingress of unwanted signals on the 300 OHM twinlead on the runs to the combiner with a 300 OHM based system.
